Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Pomegranate Juice (100%)
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/4 cup Water
- 1 teaspoon Fresh Lime Juice
- Ice (Full Glass)
- 5 – 2 tablespoons Homemade Cherry-Pomegranate Syrup (chilled)
- 1 cup Ginger Ale or Lemon-Lime Soda (well-chilled)
- 1–3 Maraschino or Fresh Cocktail Cherry, for garnish
- 1 Orange or Lime Slice, for garnish
Instructions:
- Combine Syrup Ingredients: In a small saucepan, combine the pomegranate juice, sugar, and water.
- Dissolve and Simmer: Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is fully dissolved (about 3–4 minutes). Do not allow it to boil vigorously—a gentle simmer is all that is required.
- Finish and Chill: Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the fresh lime juice. Allow the syrup to cool completely to room temperature (essential) before transferring it to an airtight container and chilling thoroughly.
- Chill and Fill the Glass: Use a tall, chilled Highball or Collins glass. Fill the glass completely with high-quality ice cubes.
- Add the Syrup: Pour 1.5 to 2 tablespoons of the measured, chilled homemade syrup directly over the ice.
- Top with Soda: Slowly pour the cold ginger ale or soda over the ice or the back of a spoon to help preserve carbonation, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) headspace.
- Gently Integrate: Give the drink one brief, gentle stir from bottom to top using a long spoon, just enough to slightly integrate the syrup into the soda without losing the fizz or the beautiful gradient.
- Garnish and Serve: Thread the cherry onto a cocktail pick or drop it into the glass. Garnish the rim with the orange or lime slice and serve immediately.
