Ingredients:

  • 1 lb frozen green beans
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 fresh lemon, zested and juiced

Instructions:

  1. Place a dry 12-inch heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes until a drop of water evaporates instantly. Do not add oil yet.
  2. Add the frozen green beans in a single layer. Let them sit undisturbed for 3 minutes to allow surface frost to evaporate and skins to begin blistering.
  3. Once beans are dry and show brown 'freckles', drizzle with avocado oil and toss to coat. Add sliced garlic and red pepper flakes.
  4. Sauté for 4-5 minutes, moving frequently, until garlic is golden and beans are tender-crisp.
  5. Turn off heat. Immediately add lemon zest, lemon juice, and sea salt. Toss to combine and serve immediately.
