Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate chunks
Instructions:
- Beat the softened butter with both brown and granulated sugars until the mixture looks pale and fluffy.
- Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract, mixing on medium speed until the batter is smooth and glossy.
- Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Mix on low speed just until the white streaks of flour disappear, taking care not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chunks by hand.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes.
- Remove from oven when edges are set but centers still look slightly soft; let cool to reach a fudgy consistency.
